WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH TOWING A TRAILER FITTED WITH LED LIGHTS?
Many modern vehicles have an on-board diagnostic system which sends a low voltage signal to detect blown globes and also detects when a trailer is attached.
As LED lights require a very low current to illuminate, these diagnostic signals cause the trailer lamps to flash/ pulse/ flicker.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO FIT THE LED TOWING ADAPTER MODULE?
Towing a trailer with incorrectly operating lamps and pulsing indicators is dangerous to other road users and is illegal.
When the vehicle detects a trailer is connected, many safety functions are altered which can include ride height, reversing sensor de-activation, anti-lock braking characteristics, stability control and traction control.
Without systems operating correctly the vehicle can be dangerous to drive when towing.
